FAQs
How did the Community House initiative get started?
The 2018 collapse of the sanctuary ceiling at the Living Faith United Methodist Church, located at 31 North Main Street in Ipswich, led to an initiative by the local congregation and the United Methodist Church New England Conference to restore the building and bring it up to date. In 2022, Ipswich Citizens For The Arts was founded as a group of Ipswich artists, civic leaders, and individuals all engaged in creating opportunities and environments for the arts to thrive in Ipswich, and began exploring the use of a historic building. Coincidentally, the Church was considering options for sharing its facility.
How will the Community House be supported?
The Ipswich Community House and the Methodist Church boards of directors are creating a plan for sharing expenses. The Community House will be available for free, paid, and community-sponsored events.
What kinds of events will the Ipswich Community House host?
The open layouts of the Living Faith Methodist Church sanctuary and fellowship hall are ideal for a wide range of activities. We envision it as a place for theater, music, art, lectures, exhibits, rummage sales, indoor recreation, and other possibilities we haven’t dreamed of.
